I’ve Passed My HubSpot Inbound Certification

HubSpot logo As the title of this post suggests, I’m pleased to announce that I recently passed the HubSpot Inbound Certification exam. Regular readers of SWT or followers of my tweets will know that I’m a big fan of the Boston-based marketing automation maestros — so I was determined to put the hours in, and pass the exam.

How do you study for the exam?

There are 11 modules you watch online and these are accompanied by some great slides and follow up resources. The modules cover the four inbound fundamentals of: attract, convert, close and delight and go into quite some detail. Then when you’re ready, you take the online exam which consists of 60 multiple choice questions over 75 minutes, and you need to score over 75% to pass.

Having gained several qualifications and attended numerous courses over the years, I’m inclined to agree with Kieran Flanagan, HubSpot EMEA Marketing Director’s assertion that “digital marketing certificates are a waste of money.” With Google, HubSpot and Marketo among many others, all providing high value online training at little or no cost, you can begin to see Kieran’s point. But that’s a discussion for another day.

I was more than happy to study for the certificate as I’m confident the knowledge I’ve gained will make me a more valuable employee, and in turn benefit my career. I truly believe that companies like HubSpot are changing marketing, and that the new era of marketing is built upon using content to provide value, not interruption.

In short, studying for the HubSpot Inbound Certification will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the world of inbound. And, below is my certificate. If you’re serious about sharpening your inbound marketing skills, I’d recommend you start studying for the certificate today. What’s next for me? Well, I plan to study for the Google AdWords Fundamentals exam between now and the end of the year.
