Standing Out in the Cloud [PRESENTATION]

Digital Skills AcademyYesterday, I had the privilege of speaking to some students at the Digital Skills Academy about employability, along with Kevin Walsh, a recent academy graduate (and success story), and Gary Ludgate, Technology Talent Acquisition Specialist at Paddy Power.

For those unfamiliar with the DSA, it’s a government initiative located at The Digital Hub which helps people develop the digital skills that businesses need today. I’ve been very impressed with the organisation, its facilities and most importantly, the students. If you’re looking for digital talent, I’d recommend dropping the team a line.

The talk looked at Personal SEO, standing out from the crowd, as well as online branding and I tried to follow the principles outlined by communications coach, Carmine Gallo on what makes a good presentation. Here’s a copy of presentation (there will be a video of the talk coming later):

On a personal note, its been a little while since I’ve presented to a large group (I think there were around 40 students in attendance), so it was nice to get the opportunity to brush up on my public speaking. Effective communication, whether it’s to colleagues, your boss, a client or new business opportunity is a hugely valuable skill and one that I’m constantly looking to develop, so I rarely turn down the opportunity to speak at events.

If you have any questions about the presentation, I’d be delighted to answer them in the comments section below.
